Get SET for cycle TREK

29 January 2013

Trek Bicycle United Kingdom has announced a partnership with the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust to form the MK Dons SET Cycle Club in Milton Keynes.

The club will seek to grow the cycling community within the greater Milton Keynes area, and plans to incorporate a variety of rides for all ages and riding abilities.

The MK Dons Sport and Education Trust is a registered charity with projects spanning five counties. The charity's areas of focus are health, education, inclusion, and sport participation. The SET have also been chosen as one of the two nominated charities by the Mayor of Milton Keynes.

The formation of the club falls within the mission of MK Dons SET to expand participation in sport, and foster healthy lifestyles. The SET CC hopes to increase cycling participation by creating all-inclusive rides for families, recreational riders, and experienced cyclists alike.

“This is an exciting time at our charity to have Trek as our title partner," said Darren Oldroyd of MK Dons SET.  "I believe the support from Trek UK will help us create a unique opportunity to engage and encourage the local community and Dons fans to 'Get SET and start cycling'. By using the power of the football brand we will help deliver and make a tangible impact in the local Milton Keynes community and beyond”.

Trek UK, also based in Milton Keynes, believes that the MK Dons SET CC is an important step to take in community outreach. "As a global brand, we actively participate in initiatives that make cycling accessible to everyone," said Chris Garrison, Trek UK's media officer.

"We feel strongly that encouraging more people to ride bikes begins at home, and for that reason we are excited about our partnership with MK Dons SET."

The annual membership to join the SET CC is £40. The price includes a cycle jersey, a donation to the SET plus other key benefits.

Rides will begin and end at stadiummk. For membership details, and additional information visit, follow @SETCycleClub on Twitter or call 01908 622985
