Channel Row preparations

6 February 2013

A team of MK Dons and MK Dons SET staff, along with members of the Milton Keynes Rowing Club, are in training ahead of the gruelling challenge to row across the English Channel.

Two boats will be making the 22-mile journey in April after Mayor Catriona Morris came up with the idea to raise money for the MK Dons SET, her chosen charity, and the Milton Keynes Rowing Club.

Last Friday, with over 100 people and 17 teams, approximately £2000 was raised at a fundraising quiz night and auction held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.

Quiz host for the evening was Luke Ashmead from BBC Three Counties Radio who tested quiz goers’ brains with a variety of general knowledge and specialist subject rounds that were based on the nation’s favourite TV gameshows including Question of Sport,  Who wants to be a Millionaire and Catchphrase.

Cllr Catriona Morris Mayor of Milton Keynes said after the event: “We raised a lot of money and had a lot of fun on the night.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in organising the quiz for all their hard work and doing a wonderful job all rounds.”

With the Mayors Channel Row fast approaching, MK Dons SET are still in need of support. If you would like to  become our official Channel Row Sponsor or would like information about our sponsorship packages please contact Judy Hildreth at judy.hildreth@mkdonsset.com or call 01908 622886.
