Dele Alli has linked up with his England Under-17 team-mates for the upcoming Algarve Tournament in Portugal.
The first year scholar, who has become a regular member of the Dons’ first team squad, is the only player in the 20-man squad currently plying his trade outside the Championship and Premier League.
Alli is part of a Young Lions set-up who will face games against hosts Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands over the space of five days.
The annual tournament acts as a warm-up for the Euro Elite Qualifying Round, which takes place in March. Head coach John Peacock will be hoping his players can make a good impression befire he picks his squad for the Elite Round, which will be hosted by England between 23-28th March.
Expectation on England is high after the Young Lions won last year’s competition courtesy of a 2-1 victory over France in their final match after drawing with the Netherlands and beating Portugal in the opener.
This year sees England start against Germany on Friday 8th February, before taking on the hosts two days later. The games are rounded off on Tuesday 12th February when the Dutch are the opposition.
