Loan round-up

27 December 2013

Striker Izale McLeod limped off after 53 minutes in Northampton Town’s 1-0 defeat to Burton Albion on Boxing Day.

McLeod started for the manager-less Cobblers on Thursday afternoon as the Cobblers went in search of a valuable festive fixture, but the 29-year-old was forced off with an injury eight minutes into the second half.

Northampton went on to lose the contest 1-0 courtesy of a late Ian Sharps header and the Sixfields outfit are now four points adrift of safety heading into their final game of 2013 against Portsmouth this weekend.

Meanwhile, right-back Jon Otsemobor was left out of Tranmere Rovers’ squad as they beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 at Greenhous Meadow.

The 30-year-old was an unused substitute for Ronnie Moore’s men last weekend but wasn’t among the seven replacements for Thursday’s clash with the Shrews.

Otsemobor, though, will be hoping to force his way back into the Rovers side for their trip to Sheffield United on Sunday.
