Karl Robinson has made six changes to his side for the Capital One Cup second round match against Sunderland.

The Dons boss has handed former Newcastle United star Alan Smith a starting role on the ground where he suffered a career-threatening injury two years ago.

Samir Carruthers, who scored his first professional goal in the Dons’ 2-2 draw against Bristol City, makes his first start for the Dons while Dele Alli, Ben Reeves and Izale McLeod also come into the side.

Ian McLoughlin is also introduced to deputise in goal, the Dons’ goalkeeper made his first start for the Dons in the same competition against Sunderland last year. On that occasion the Dons were knocked out at stadiummk as Sunderland recorded a 2-0 victory but McLoughlin and his team-mates will be looking for revenge tonight.
