Robbo thanks to the 5K

9 August 2013

Karl Robinson has paid tribute to the 5,000-plus season ticket holders who will be supporting MK Dons at stadiummk this year.

The Dons surpassed the 5,000 mark in the days building up to their first home game of the Sky Bet League 1 season, which takes place tomorrow against Crewe Alexandra.

The Dons manager was keen to thank the fans for their support and admits it is important for both the team and the fans to encourage one another during matches.

Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow’s game, Robinson said: “We have broken the 5,000 mark for season ticket holders, which is a phenomenal achievement for this Football Club. We are continuing to grow as a Club, both on and off the pitch and 5,000 is a figure we dreamed of not too long ago but we can believe it now.

“When you see the fans, hear them and see how many we took to Northampton the other night you know we are a growing club. I know they sing for us with pride, but we are just as proud of the quality we have in the stands.

“There is a good connection between the Club and the fans. I remember a quote from Bill Shankly which was the most important people in any Football Club are the ones who come through the turnstiles - there has to be a connection from the terraces to the stands which encourages both parties and I think it is a wonderful statement and a true statement that we should adhere to.”
