MK Dons Ladies returned to winning ways on Sunday morning, beating local rivals Luton Town 2-0.
John Dyer’s side, rejuvenated after their Easter break, arrived in Bedfordshire needing a victory to keep their hopes of finishing in the top three alive.
The Dons were also boosted by the return to fitness of quartet Heather McDonnell, Trip Witney and Emily Mann (pictured) who have all been missing in recent weeks through injury.
With both teams cancelling each other out early on, there was no surprise when the first half finished goalless.
In fact, it took until the 88th minute for the net to finally ripple and fortunately for the visitors, it was courtesy of substitute Nikki Tarrent, whose powerful header was too much for the Hatters ‘keeper.
The Dons then secured the victory in stoppage time when Mann’s cool finish found its way into the bottom corner after a dazzling run from the Dons forward.
The result leaves the Dons just five points adrift of the top three, heading into the final few weeks of the season.
