Defender Gary MacKenzie helped Blackpool to their second victory in three games on Saturday afternoon.

The Scottish centre-half played the full ninety minutes in Paul Ince’s side’s 1-0 victory over Burnley last weekend, a result which came courtesy of a 58th minute strike from Ludovic Sylvestre.

MacKenzie, who was making his eighth appearance for Blackpool, helped keep the visiting Clarets at bay as the Lancashire-based Tangerines leapfrogged their opponents in the League table and took a step closer to avoiding the drop from the Championship.

Next up for MacKenzie and Blackpool is an important date with fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Tom Flanagan and Barnet saw their pivotal clash with Torquay United on Saturday called off due to a waterlogged pitch. The two teams will now meet this Tuesday afternoon with all to play for, as both sides look to secure their place in the Football League for next season.
