Milton Keynes Dons can today reveal the new ‘All Mod Dons’ home shirt for the 2013/14 season
The shirt will be worn by the first team outfield players during this afternoon’s npower League 1 fixture against Scunthorpe United.
The brand new white shirt is crisp, clean and sharp with a striking black and red stripe running down the centre. A red collar and red piping down the side and bottom of the arm maintains the strong yet simple colour scheme associated with the Dons.
An eye-catching feature of the new shirt is a short black stripe between the shoulder blades which carries the Club’s date of birth ‘2004’ to coincide with ten years of professional football in Milton Keynes.
Red will predominantly be the colour for the away kit, which will feature a white and black stripe, while the third kit is black with a red and white stripe.
The 2013/14 goalkeeper strip comes in a bright yellow, royal blue or orange option. The Dons are set to return to black numbering on the back on the home and away kit and white numbering on the third kit.
As ever, the Club remains committed to working with local companies to create a shirt Milton Keynes can be proud, as a result Title Partners and Olney-based Case Security remain as the shirt sponsor for next season.
Local company Sondico, formerly known as Vandanel, also continue as the Club’s Technical Partner and have once again created MK Dons a uniquely designed playing kit and will provide training wear, as well as a range of leisure wear for the Club Superstore.
Karl Robinson, who had a creative role in designing the shirts, has likened the look of the kit to the mod subculture in the late 1960s – as a result of the reference MK Dons decided to borrow a vespa from the Tin Soldiers Scooter Club in Bletchley for the official photo launch.
Dons boss Robinson said: “It’s very ‘mod’ and very Paul Weller to some extent and I just think it’s got a very iconic look to it. We went very traditional last year with an all white kit with the stadium on the front but for the first time ever we’ve got the year that we born, ‘2004’ so when we reach 2014 it’s got a very symbolic meaning.
“It’s got a dashing black and red stripe through the middle which is completely different to every team in the country and it’s very ‘us’. I personally believe it will be our best selling shirt."
The Club has frozen the prices of its replica kits for next season and season ticket holders and members will once again enjoy a 5 per cent discount on all replica kit.
A limited number of home shirts will be available from late-May and your shirt can be reserved now via the Club Superstore and Online Superstore, the away kit will be available from July and the third kit on sale from August. All three goalkeeper jerseys will be available from June.
