Poetry in motion

28 September 2012

Milton Keynes Dons Sport and Education Trust have announced the appointment of Milton Keynes Poet Laureate Mark Niel as their official Poet in Residence this season.

Mark will be leading theDons Poetry Slam programme working with 12 school clusters in the city as part of the school’s Big Day programme, which is supported by Milton Keynes Mayor, Catriona Morris, and contributes towards her year of sport and culture.

Mark will be writing a regular column in the match day programme about his work and bringing you all the latest news about the work with the schools.  The theme of the programme is ‘Playing Your Part’ reflecting the contribution that everyone makes in football and sport generally.

Mark will be making poetry accessible and fun for all those involved and the hope is to create some new budding poets; using the power of sport to inspire!

Look out for Mark on a matchday; you will find him in The Cowshed cheering on the team and encouraging all the fans get creative with their chanting!
