Only two loanees were in action last night, both of whom played full games for their respective teams.
Jabo Ibehre helped Colchester United to a 2-0 victory over Leyton Orient which sees the U’s climb into 12th place in League 1.
Ibehre, who has netted four times already for Joe Dunne’s side, was involved in the build-up for United’s second goal, after some good work allowed him to set up Gavin Massey who in turn laid on Craig Eastmond whose parried shot allowed Ian Henderson to finish.
The 29-year-old almost grabbed a third late on but, after using his strength to open up an opportunity, he fired his shot wide.
Tom Flanagan also featured for the full 90 minutes but he couldn't prevent Gillingham falling to their first away defeat of the season, after they lost 2-1 to Torquay United.
Flanagan, though, was instrumental in the Gills’ only positive moment in the game, as it was his long ball which caused the Torquay defence problems and allowed Deon Burton to stab home Martin Allen’s side’s solitary goal.
