Three Dons players were in action last weekend for their respective loan Clubs, including Jabo Ibehre who capped off his Colchester debut with a brace.
Netting just before half-time after capitalising on a poor back pass, the Islington-born forward also bundled in a second late on to make it 3-1 and secure the U’s first win of the season against Hartlepool United.
Jabo forced the Pool ‘keeper into several good saves before being substituted, in a debut to remember for the 29-year-old striker.
Defender Tom Flanagan was also in action for League Two side Gillingham, although he couldn’t help them avoid their first defeat of the campaign against Rochdale.
Making his eighth appearance for the Gills, Flanagan played 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat but Martin Allen’s side still sit pretty at the top of table.
The only other loanee that saw game time was George Baldock who also got himself on the scoresheet in Tamworth’s 3-2 away win over Woking.
The centre midfielder netted in the 63rd minute from the right side of the area before going agonisingly close to a second late on, in a game that saw the Staffordshire side move up into seventh in the Blue Square Premier.
Former Ireland U-21 international Charlie Collins, also on loan with Marcus Law’s side, was an unused sub in the game.
