MK Dons players and staff took time out of their busy training schedule on Tuesday to take part in the MK Dons Annual Golf Classic at Mentmore Golf and Country Club.
Several members of the first team squad joined up with some of the Club’s key commercial partners to take part in the yearly event, which was sponsored by Case Security.
Manager Karl Robinson led the way with a fine performance throughout the afternoon, including a fantastic birdie on the 11th, although Mick Harford was the pick of the coaching staff, walking away the highest scoring captain with a team score of 94.
Keen golfers Shaun Williams, Dean Lewington and Alan Smith were all out on the course trying to steer their respective teams to victory while amateur Jon Otsemobor was playing in only his second round of golf.
Although an enjoyable and relaxing day out, Robinson is fully aware of the importance the event has on the Club.
He told MK Dons Player: “The sponsors play a massive part in this Football Club, not only financially but the support they give us on and off the field.
“We’ve become quite close to them and most of the players turn up to these events because they want to show their appreciation for what the sponsors do over the course of the season.
“We should do more in a way. I said at the start of the season, there’s no success without fans or sponsorships and they are the catalyst behind everything we do.”
As well as the fierce competition in the golfing stakes there was also plenty of rivalry in the fashion depart. Antony Kay turned up in a sharp combo of pink chequered trousers and a pink polo shirt while Jay O’Shea staked a claim for the best headwear, although Ian Wright may beg to differ.
