Dons face Cambridge City in FA Cup

21 October 2012

MK Dons will start their FA Cup campaign away to Cambridge City in the First Round Proper.

The Dons, represented by ball 25, were drawn against Cambridge City, who booked their place in the draw following their 3-2 win at AFC Totton yesterday, in this afternoon’s draw which took place at Wembley.

The Evo-Stik Southern Premier side will play host to Karl Robinson's League 1 side in early November.

The Lilywhites, managed by Gary Roberts, have never made it beyond the Second Round of the competition but they will be looking to equal history, while the Dons will be aware of the danger that comes in the form of lower League opposition.

It is not the first time the two sides will have met in the competition either, the Dons last made the trip to Cambridge City in 2004 in the Second Round of the Cup. On that occasion Allan Smart produced the only goal in the game – which featured David Martin and Dean Lewington - to send the Dons into the next round.

MK Dons have enjoyed past success in the competition, most recently when they took QPR to a Third Round replay after a 1-1 draw at stadiummk last January. The Dons have never made it beyond the Third Round of the FA Cup but Robinson will no doubt be eager to make history and get a big name in the latter stages of one of English football’s most prestigious competitions.

The fixture is set to be played the weekend of 3rd November. Confirmation of the date and ticket prices will be confirmed on in due course.
