Armed Forces Day this Saturday

17 October 2012

MK Dons’ League One clash with Stevenage this Saturday has been designated as the Club’s third Armed Forces Big Day.

The day will provide the opportunity for everyone to show their appreciation for the country’s brave service men and women while watching an exciting game of football between two promotion chasing sides.

Serving members of the armed forces and veterans along with their respective families and friends will be able to watch the game for a discounted price in what is sure to be another memorable occasion.

Chairman Pete Winkelman is looking forward to showing his admiration for the local armed forces and hopes supporters will turn out in their numbers to join him.

He said: “The game gives supporters of both teams the opportunity to pay tribute to serving members and veterans of the Armed Forces.

“We are delighted to be joined by so many of them today and I hope that you will join me at half-time in giving them the standing ovation they deserve.”

Apart from the football, the day’s special guest Gary Potter, who survived the HMS Coventry disaster during the Falklands War, will lead the teams out prior to kick-off and there will also be a half-time parade marched out by the upbeat Wolverton Town Band.

Around the ground you will also notice charity collectors from the Royal Navy Benevolent Trust so please dig deep as this charity aids those men and women in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines who serve or have served their country by providing support at times of need throughout their lives.
