MK Dons Ladies progressed through to the FA Women’s Cup First Round Proper after a convincing 3-0 win over Leamington Lions on Sunday.
Goals from Heather McDonnell, Kaye Henton (pictured) and Leah Cudone were enough to see John Dyer’s side into to the next stage of the competition.
Off the back of their disappointing 2-1 loss to Chichester City last weekend, the Ladies travelled to Warwickshire to take on a Lions outfit who ply their trade in the Midlands Combination League.
The Dons started brightly and dominated the early proceedings with their midfield quartet controlling the tempo of the game with their slick passing.
And they were awarded just before half-time when the impressive McDonnell was given space to slot home from just inside the penalty area.
The back four were in excellent form throughout the game and limited their hosts to only a small handful of chances with ‘keeper Trip Witney having one of her quietest games in the Dons goal.
The visitor’s lead was doubled in the second half thanks to header from Cudone before they made it three through Henton’s 30-yard screamer late on, to wrap up a memorable afternoon for the Ladies.
Dyer’s team will now face Luton Town Ladies in the next round on Sunday 9th December at Newport Pagnell Town FC.
