Potential AFC Cup date awaits

4 November 2012

The FA Cup Second Round could potentially see a meeting of MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon, should both sides win their respective First Round Replays.

MK Dons play host to Cambridge City on Tuesday 13th November following the goalless draw at Milton Road on Friday, while AFC Wimbledon entertain York City after their 1-1 draw yesterday (Saturday).

Should the two clubs win their respective first round ties, they will meet for the first time on the weekend of 1st or 2nd December at stadiummk. MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon almost met in the competition in 2010 – with both sides having to win replays to confirm the tie – however, on that occasion MK Dons were knocked out by Stevenage.

Chairman Pete Winkelman said: “This could potentially be a fantastic tie in the FA Cup and no doubt one that the whole of the football world will be watching. However, we still have a tough replay against Cambridge City and AFC Wimbledon also have a difficult game against York City so I doubt either club is focusing on it at this moment in time.”

The Dons, who reached the Third Round of the Cup last year, started their campaign on Friday night at Cambridge City where they were held to a stalemate. The replay at stadiummk will take place on Tuesday 13th November, kick-off 7.45pm, with tickets for the replay going on sale at midday on Monday 5th November.
