Rugby returns to stadiummk

13 July 2012

Rugby is set to return to Milton Keynes at the end of the year when Saracens play Northampton Saints at stadiummk on Sunday 30th December.

Saracens, who were the first club to host a rugby game at the venue in 2008, are hoping to emulate the success their rivals Saints have experienced at stadiummk and with the match taking place during the Christmas period they are hoping to draw large crowds.

A Saracens spokesman said: "We will work in conjunction with our good friends at Northampton to stage a unique and spectacular event at this outstanding venue, within easy reach of our season-ticket holders in Hertfordshire and beyond. Matches played around Christmas always attract excellent crowds, and we anticipate a very strong attendance for this special clash."

Saracens are expected to move into their new home at Barnet Copthall in February 2013. Saracens have been seeking alternative venues for their fixtures and have come to an arrangement with the Saints management to hold December's game in Milton Keynes.

Given the Saints' recent history of successfully filling stadiummk - including achieving the venue's attendance record for the 2011 Heineken Cup quarter final - it has been agreed with Saracens that all public ticket sales and hospitality bookings will be handled at Franklin's Gardens.
