MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has paid tribute to Milton Keynes’ golden boy Greg Rutherford.
The Bletchley-born long jumper wrote his name in history on Saturday night when won gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Greg, a member of Marshall Milton Keynes Athletics Club, registered a jump of 8.31 metres to claim Great Britian’s first gold in the long jump competition for 48 years.
Robinson said: “I would like to send our congratulations as a Football Club to Greg; he is an inspiration to this city. Milton Keynes was not born as a sporting city but it is now becoming a predominant part of everyday life in Milton Keynes.
“He is an inspiration to kids across the country and especially to those in his hometown. We are all extremely proud of him and we look forward to him one day coming down and meeting the players. Hopefully we can replicate his success in the Olympics by adding silverware to the Football Club.”
