Luke keen for Canaries date

2 August 2012

With the Dons’ first home friendly of the season right round the corner, one player in the Dons camp looking forward to this game more than most, Luke Chadwick, who spent two seasons with the Canaries before moving to MK1.

Chadwick, who scored in the 4-0 upset over Norwich last season, was a real fan favourite at Carrow Road and always enjoys returning to his former home.

And the midfielder told that he is looking forward to testing himself against the Premier League side again.

“It’s always great to play against a Premier League club at stadiummk. We always have a good crowd that get behind us and hopefully that’ll be no different on Friday.”

“I remember last season when we played Tottenham and they brought some world class players and it was a fantastic occasion for everyone.

“Hopefully Norwich will bring a strong team so we can pit our wits against another Premier League club.”

In August last year, Karl Robinson’s side recorded one of their biggest upsets when they beat City 4-0 at Carrow Road in the Second Round of the Carling Cup and Luke is confident of repeating that feat again on Friday.

“Last year’s match against Norwich was probably one of the best performances I have seen since I’ve been at the club; we really played well.

“I think playing against better opposition suits us because we share a similar style of football to most Premier League clubs by getting the ball down and keeping it.”

With the Dons’ first competitive fixture less than two weeks away, the players could be forgiven for looking ahead to the match with Cheltenham Town on 11th August. However, the former Premier League winner is aware of how important friendly matches are in a season.

“We’ve been out in Dublin working hard but it doesn’t matter how much running and training you do, you can’t get ‘football fit’ until you play a few games and that is why these friendlies are essential to us.”
