Milton Keynes Dons can confirm the signing of striker Ryan Lowe for an undisclosed fee from Sheffield Wednesday.
The prolific goal scorer completed a medical this afternoon and has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old forward joins the Dons having recently won promotion with Sheffield Wednesday, scoring nine goals in 14 starts for the Owls in their successful campaign last season.
Upon signing for the Club, Ryan Lowe said: “I have just left a great club in Sheffield Wednesday, I was probably going to be limited to chances of playing football and I don’t want to just sit around picking up money, I want to work hard for my money.
"There’s not many clubs that I would have left Sheffield Wednesday for so I have come to this Club to hopefully achieve the ambition of getting promoted this season. Hopefully it can be third time lucky for the Football Club and hopefully I am a good luck charm and I can make it a third promotion for me.”
Beginning his career with Lancashire-based club Burscough, Ryan joined Shrewsbury Town in 2000 where he went on to score 37 times in five seasons for the Shrews, winning the Nationwide Conference play-offs, before moving to Chester City.
Continuing his goal scoring form with Chester, the Liverpool-born man scored 17 times in his first and only season with the Club before signing for Crewe Alexandra in July 2006. Spending two years with the Cheshire side, Ryan tallied 17 goals and after a stint on loan with Stockport County he re-joined Chester City.
Despite finishing the season with 18 goals, it was the following seasons with new club Bury where the talisman made a name for himself by breaking a 53 year old club record for scoring in nine consecutive League fixtures.
The former-PFA League Two Fans Player of the Year was instrumental in Bury’s successful promotion to League One in 2011 and after scoring 53 goals for the Shakers in two years, Ryan earned himself a move to Hillsborough where he won his second successive promotion.
Dons boss Karl Robinson is delighted to welcome his latest signing to stadiummk. He said: “Ryan is a player I have identified as a target for over a year now; he is an extremely gifted footballer with a prolific goal scoring record and I am delighted he is now part of our team.
“With two promotions in two years, Ryan has excellent experience of knowing what it takes to be successful and we want successful people at MK Dons.
“He has come in to join a strong group of forwards and we now have great strength in-depth that offers great competition which will only strengthen our push for promotion. We only add players who can challenge for a place in the first team and we still have plans to add one or two more faces before this window closes.”
Exclusive interviews with both Ryan and Karl will appear on MK Dons Player tomorrow (Thursday).
