Gleeson serves three-match ban

14 August 2012

Milton Keynes Dons can confirm that at an FA Regulatory Commission hearing today, the Club’s appeal to overturn the red card issued to Stephen Gleeson during the Capital One Cup First Round match against Cheltenham Town was dismissed.

Stephen received a straight red card from referee Steven Rushton in Saturday’s penalty shoot-out victory over Cheltenham Town at The Abbey Business Stadium in the 38th minute for serious foul play.

The Club submitted an appeal this morning citing wrongful dismissal but that claim was dismissed and Stephen will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect.

As a result Stephen will be unavailable for Saturday’s League 1 opener against Oldham Athletic and he will also miss the away trips to AFC Bournemouth and Swindon Town.
