As MK Dons gear up for the start of the npower League 1 season, which starts at stadiummk against Oldham Athletic on Saturday, Karl Robinson, Dean Bowditch and Charlie MacDonald all took time to meet supporters at thecentre:mk.
And those lucky supporters were able to get their pictures taken with the npower League 1 trophy, which was displayed at thecentre:mk on Tuesday. Robinson, Bowditch and MacDonald all posed for photos alongside the trophy, but all three refused to touch the trophy.
Robinson insisted ‘only Champions should touch a trophy’ but the sight of silverware will have no doubt inspired the players ahead of the big kick-off at 3pm.
Speaking from the event, Karl Robinson said: “That trophy is a wonderful trophy which is built for Champions, and that is not us at this moment in time.
"People who win it work hard for nine month and it is a sacred thing to touch and rightly so, only the winners deserve it.
"My daughter wants get her hands on the trophy so I have to win it for her as well.”
