Capital One Cup draw

14 August 2012

Milton Keynes Dons would like to remind fans that the draw for Round 2 of the Capital One Cup will take place on Wednesday 15th August at approximately 12.30pm.

Shown live on Sky Sports News, the draw will see the Premier League teams enter the tournament, with the exclusion of those competing in UEFA competitions who will enter at Round 3.

The Dons booked their place in the Second Round having defeated Cheltenham Town after a dramatic penalty shoot-out in their season opener last Saturday. Dean Bowditch opened the scoring for Karl Robinson’s men before Kaid Mohammed’s leveler sent the tie to extra-time. With nothing to separate the two teams after the additional 30 minutes of football the game went to penalties and Ryan Lowe slotted home the winning spot-kick after David Martin saved Daryl Duffy’s effort.

In last year’s draw the Dons drew Premier League Norwich City and it provided one of the most memorable nights of last season and the team will be hoping that a similar thing can happen this time around.

The Club would also like to remind supporters that the draw for Round One of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy takes place this Saturday on Soccer AM between 10am – 10:30am.

The Dons have been put into the Southern Section (East) regional group along with: AFC Wimbledon, Crawley Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gillingham, Northampton Town, Stevenage and Southend United.
