MK Dons Under-23s were 4-0 winners on Monday afternoon in their latest Central Development League South clash.

Two goals in either half ensured MK Dons ran out 4-0 winners over AFC Wimbledon - Ryan Watson and Ousseynou Cisse both netted in the first half - before Lawson D'Ath and an Own-Goal completed the victory. 

The game enabled Paul Tisdale to take an in-depth look at a number of his first-team squad that were after match minutes. 

Both Mathieu Baudry, Osman Sow, and Callum Brittain were all handed starts from the off, while Ryan Watson, Robbie Simpson, Lawson D’Ath and Mitch Hancox also took to the field from the opening whistle. 

It was the home side who had the best of the opening minutes, with Robbie Simpson glancing narrowly wide from Lawson D’Ath’s whipped cross four minutes into the game.

Simpson then had his header saved by Nik Tzanev, before, from the following corner, Tzanev denied Jackson.

AFC Wimbledon’s latest signing, Dylan Connolly started out on the right, he had a low cross saved by Stuart Moore at his near post. 

With 10-minutes on the clock, Osman Sow got had his first shot at goal, his driven effort from 20-yards out was saved by Tzanev. 

Hancox, who was getting joy out on the left, put in a floated cross towards the head of Sow. His delivery caused trouble with Tzanev spilling the cross, but the away side eventually cleared their lines.

Cisse then fired wide from the edge of AFC Wimbledon’s box after good work from Callum Brittain on the right.

Moore was forced into his first real save of the game with 15-minutes, he denied Connolly after he raced through one-on-one with Moore.

The save from Moore proved to be vital as, at the other end, Hancox’s deep cross was met by the head of Simpson. The striker cushioned the ball back into the path of Watson who smashed past Tzanev. 1-0.

Minutes later, Cisse came close to doubling the advantage, the chance came about after some clever footwork from Sow, before the Malian midfielder had his effort saved. 

Moore was forced into action with 37-minutes into the game, he got down quickly to deny Tommy Wood. 

His save once again proved pivotal, as seconds later Ousseynou Cisse doubled Rubio’s advantage. Watson’s corner wasn’t dealt with by AFC Wimbledon, with Cisse on hand to smash home. 2-0. 

Joe Pigott came close to reducing the deficit minutes before half-time, his strike from the edge of the area ended just over the bar.

With no changes at the break, MK Dons made the perfect start to the second-half as Lawson D’Ath made it three. 

It was clever work from both Baudry and Brittain with the latter playing a precise pass into the path of D’Ath. The midfielder jinxed past a couple of defenders before curling into the back of the net from 20-yards. 3-0. 

AFC Wimbledon looked to reduce the deficit, however, Egan’s free-kick fell into the arms of Moore.

Egan once again came close shortly after the hour-mark, having won possession inside the MK Dons half, Egan dragged his shot wide. 

AFC Wimbledon thought they were handed a route back into the game as the referee awarded the visitors a penalty for handball against Oran Jackson. After discussions with his assistant, the decision was overturned much to the dismay of AFC Wimbledon.

From the resulting decision, MK Dons countered with Mitch Hancox’s cross ending in the back of the net via James O’Halloran’s own-goal. 4-0

Watson almost made it five, having shifted the ball onto his right, the midfielder’s effort cannoned back off the crossbar.

Eager to maintain their clean sheet, Kasumu pulled off an unbelievable goal-line clearance to deny AFC Wimbledon. Chirchlow chipped over the advancing Moore, but out of nowhere, Kasumu pulled out an overhead kick to clear.
