MK Dons Under-18s claimed three points following a 2-1 victory over Northampton Town, courtesy of goals from Joshua Adepoju and Joel Anker.
Northampton, who placed third prior to the EFL Youth Alliance league clash at Woughton on the Green Playing Fields, travelled to Milton Keynes having not lost a game in their previous three.
A strong start to the clash saw the young Dons open the scoring within the first 10 minutes of the fixture.
Joshua Adepoju was awarded with a penalty following a foul in the box, and the young striker made sure to fire his effort at home at the second time of asking after the goalkeeper prevented his initial attempt. 1-0
The home side continued their strong display following the opener, which saw many positive opportunities for John Bitting’s boys.
Both teams entered the break whilst MK Dons maintained the advantage.
Shortly after the interval, Joel Anker doubled the lead for the hosts. Through another set-piece, Anker picked out the top corner, which left the Northampton shot-stopper no chance of preventing the free-kick. 2-0
Later within the game, the travelling team were awarded with a penalty, which also saw the home side be reduced to ten men. However, that didn’t hinder the Dons’ resilience as they saw out their one-goal lead until the final whistle.
