MK Dons Under-18s suffered their first defeat of the 2022/23 season to Cambridge United.
John Bitting’s boys hosted their first home game against the U’s. Unfortunately, the Dons didn’t start as strong as the travelling side which allowed them to score an early opener. A controversial opener after calls for handball led to an early goal.
The away side used their early advantage to benefit them further, they continued their momentum and double their lead just before the break.
Number eight, Simeone Troso, started and played the full fixture with MK Dons Under-18s as an under-16s player.
The second-half began and the Dons improved after the interval, this allowed Phoenix Scholtz to produce a spectacular solo goal and half the deficit. This granted John Bitting’s boys a way back into the game.
Cambridge’ ruthlessness ensured that they grabbed all three points. The U’s grasped at another chance they created, which led to their third and final goal of the match.
The referee signalled for full-time and MK Dons had suffered their first defeat of the season.
