Under-18s Report: MK Dons 2-4 Leyton Orient

14 December 2020

MK Dons Under-18s fell to defeat in their latest Youth Alliance League outing as Leyton Orient ran out winners on Saturday morning.

It was a lively opening 15-minutes with the Dons going close through Lewis Johnson, before Leyton Orient had penalty appeals rejected by the referee.

A frantic opening to the game saw the visitors take the lead on 20-minutes as Bryan Ifenayi rounded Tom Carter to give the O’s the lead. 0-1.

Minutes after Ifenyai’s strike, Orient made it two as Daniel Nkrumah netted the second of the clash. He found the back of the net with a clever flick from Daniel Nkrumah’s cross. 0-2.

Lewis Johnson then went close from a free-kick but was unable to keep his effort under the bar.

The Dons, however, reduced the deficit six minutes after the break as Johnson pounced on a failed clearance before slotting home from inside the box. 1-2.

Tom Carter then produced a fantastic save to deny Finlay Lovatt, however, Jephte Tanga was in the right place to convert the rebound. 1-3.

Lee Collier’s side rallied and were back within a goal of Orient when Brooklyn Ilunga converted from inside the box. 2-3.

The Dons dominated the final stages of the game but were caught on the break by Orient. After the visitors won a penalty in the dying embers, Finlay Lovatt stepped up to score and give his side the three points. 2-4.

MK Dons XI: Carter, Riley, Davies, Black, Crane,  Anderson, Johnson, Ilunga, Bailey, R. Holmes, Deall.
