MK Dons are back in Sky Bet League One action this weekend as they face Wycombe Wanderers.

MK Dons make the short journey to Adams Park this Saturday and are set to be backed by over 1,000 supporters.

It'll be the first time the two Buckinghamshire sides have met since March 2012, with the fixture just the ninth meeting between MK Dons and Wycombe Wanderers.

Both the Dons and Wycombe are currently unbeaten in the league and are both sides are yet to ship a goal - albeit Tisdale's outfit have played just once due to their suspension of the opening day clash with Bury. 

Kick-off is at 3.00pm.

THE OPPOSITION
Wycombe Wanderers and Gareth Ainsworth are a duo that Paul Tisdale is very fond of, with the Dons manager heaping praise on his opposite number in his Thursday press conference.

Ainsworth oversaw Wycombe's promotion from Sky Bet League Two back in 2018, and then guided the club to a respectable 17th place finish during their return to the third tier of English football.

There is certainly one face who will stand out on the Wycombe teamsheet - that of David Wheeler. The former Don scored the goal that earned MK Dons promotion last season during his loan spell at Stadium MK.

Elsewhere, Wycombe have a number of talented faces including Dominic Gape, Jack Grimmer, Alex Pattison and Club legend Matt Bloomfield to name a few.

LAST TIME OUT
MK Dons secured a place in Round Two of the Carabao Cup courtesy of a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory over AFC Wimbledon at their Cherry Red Records Stadium.

There was nothing to separate the two sides after 90 minutes in south-west London with Luke O’Neill cancelling out David Kasumu’s stunning second-half strike late on, after Conor McGrandles had done the same to Scott Wagstaff in the first half.

Lee Nicholls, who saved a penalty from Joe Pigott during the match, denied Callum Reilly in the shoot-out before Alex Gilbey, on his return to the action, secured the win with a confident strike from 12-yards.

Wycombe Wanderers, meanwhile, suffered a 4-2 penalty defeat to Sky Bet Championship outfit Reading in the first round tie at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

Alex Samuel broke the deadlock with a glancing header before George Puscas levelled for the Royals.

FIGHTING TALK
Paul Tisdale: “Gareth has been there a long time, he knows his role and the dynamic at the club. They seem to get their strategy absolutely spot on, they have total clarity in the way they play and they recruit very well for it.

"They're very selective, patient and probably get good value. And then they execute well. He does exactly the job to get the best out of his team. They really are fit for purpose. I cannot be more of an admirer for a man who works within limitations but gets more than what he pays.


Gareth Ainsworth: "Paul’s a good friend of mine; we’ve had some fantastic games against each other in the past and he’s a great guy, very calm, articulate and a real thinker. His teams are always well organised, they know their jobs, and Saturday will be no different I’m sure."

TEAM NEWS

MK Dons boss Paul Tisdale will didn't reveal any fresh injury concerns following Tuesday's win over AFC Wimbledon.

In terms of absentees, Joe Mason and Brennan Dickenson both missed the midweek win in the Carabao Cup, although it remains to be seen how long either player will be sidelined for. Despite continuing to make progress, Jordan Moore-Taylor remains out with a knee injury.

Both Sido Jombati and Curtis Thompson are major doubts for the Chairboys after missing out at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

OFFICIALS

Trevor Kettle will be the man in the middle this weekend, referring the Dons for the first time since the 1-1 draw against Swindon last September.


Kettle, who has been officiating since 2002, issued 171 Yellow Cards and seven Reds in his 41 games last season.

This year, Mr Kettle has issued five yellow cards and one red in two games.

Anthony Da Costa and Ryan Whitaker will be the assistant referees while the fourth official is Gareth Viccars.
