MK Dons Women pick up a point on the road…

3 October 2022

Charlie Bill’s Women claimed a hard-fought point on the road, a 1-1 draw against Bridgwater United ensured that the team remain unbeaten throughout their previous three fixtures.

The ball started with Darcy Guy, the keeper then distributed the ball out to Sofia Stovold, who located Rhianne Rush in the centre of the field. Rush then played the ball into Nicole Pepper. After that, the number ten surged into the home side’s half before playing a ball in-behind for Mollie Coupar.

Coupar, collected the pass through to her within the Robin’s box. The number 18 then unleashed a powerful strike, which flew past the host’s goalkeeper and into the roof of the net from a tight angle inside the area. The Dons gained an advantage with 20 minutes left of play in the first-half.

MK Dons’ opener granted them the confidence to apply more pressure on Bridgwater United, although a strong defensive display ensured that Charlie Bill’s Women didn’t double their lead before heading into the interval.

Second-half

After the break, the home side were determined to find an equaliser which would bring them back into the game.

Seven minutes into the second phase of play, Bridgwater United levelled the game. After snatching the ball in the middle of the pitch, the Robin’s used width to their advantage and located their winger on the left-flank.

Guy attempted to rush out and claim the ball, but the opposition were rapid in their attack, which allowed them to place the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net. The score line returned level at 1-1.

MK Dons showed fighting spirit throughout the remainder of the game, but they were unable to re-gain their advantage.
