MK Dons Women host Plymouth Argyle at Stadium MK…

6 April 2023

Charlie Bill’s Women search for back-to-back FAWNL Southern Premier Division league victories as they host Plymouth Argyle at Stadium MK on Easter Sunday.

The Dons’ previous matchup also saw a Stadium MK outing against Bridgwater United, a league opponent that’s currently battling relegation. A well-earned 4-1 victory has placed sixth and back-to-back successes could see a rise into the top five of the league table.
Alongside three points, MK Dons Women’s forward Mollie Coupar claimed a remarkable accolade as her brace awarded her with a total of 25 goals during the current campaign. An incredible achievement, which could be heightened with four league games remaining.

This fixture is scheduled to take place on Sunday 9 April at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes, Stadium Way, MK1 1ST. Kick-off is timed for 4:30pm.
Tickets for this tie are available at £5 for adults whilst Under-18s go FREE.

Plymouth Argyle currently place tenth within the league table, just one point above the drop zone. Sunday’s opponents are yet to have drawn a game, but they have recorded the greatest number of losses this season whilst five wins have awarded them with their 15 points earned.
Argyle have struggled to find a result in their previous five fixtures, which has seen them suffer defeats throughout March. The travelling team’s last result concluded as a 4-1 victory over Cheltenham Town in late February.

Charlie Bill’s Women claimed a 4-1 victory at Stadium MK in their previous league outing against a side in a similar position to that of Sunday’s opponents. Leyla O’Brien’s hat-trick of assist supplied a goal for Tricia Gould, as well as a brace for Mollie Coupar.

Coupar’s record-breaking 25 goal of the current campaign was then added to by Laura Mitchell to complete the 4-1 triumph over Bridgwater United. A Stadium MK result that Charlie Bill will look to replicate on Easter Sunday.
Amy McLean is one appearance shy of 20 for the season so far.
Laura Mitchell could earn 15 starts milestone if she is named within Sunday’s starting line-up. Kerry Newman also nears 20 starts for the 2022/23 season.
Angelina Nixon remains one contribution away from an impressive 25 for the season, the midfielder also bares down on ten goals.
Tricia Gould is one assist away from ten for the current campaign.

Dons Women achieve back-to-back Stadium MK success…

13 April 2023

MK Dons Women secured their second consecutive Stadium MK victory, which also saw the Dons breach into the top five of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division table.

Following their victory over Bridgwater United, Charlie Bill’s Women prepared for another relegation candidate test. Plymouth Argyle, a team that is only above the drop zone by one point.
It could’ve been a tough task to battle against a side who are fighting to remain within the league. However, goals from Tricia Gould, Mollie Coupar and Laura Mitchell soon extinguished the flames of the travelling team.

Within the opening exchanges, the home side were the team to deal the first blow within the league clash. Hannah Samuels was granted an assist after the number 26’s cross met with Tricia Gould, who connected with it brilliantly to fire the ball past the Argyle’s ‘Keeper with a volleyed attempt. 1-0

Following the opener on the 15-minute mark, MK Dons then doubled their advantage through Mollie Coupar as the stopwatch hit 30 minutes. The record-breaking striker has had a season to behold, so much so that it seems abnormal when the number 18 doesn’t find her way onto the scoresheet.
Laura Mitchell found the run of Coupar, which created a one-on-one opportunity for the forward. Mollie demonstrated great composure as she knocked it past the shot-stopper, who had rushed out in a desperate attempt to deny the Dons from doubling their lead. 2-0

The two-goal lead was sustained until the break, a strong display within the first 45-minute stage of this Easter Sunday clash could prove pivotal to MK Dons Women’s hopes of securing a top five position.

The hosts looked to replicate their first half display and attempted to limit Plymouth to little chances in front of goal. However, captain Chloe Sansom was denied her clean sheet as the visitors were the first to score following the interval. 2-1
The two goals scored now proved vital to Charlie Bill’s Women, who still maintained their winning status with 30 minutes left to play.
The goal scored by Argyle could’ve swung the tie in favour of them as they continued their mission to secure what could be a crucial result. But this dream was stripped away from Plymouth after Laura Mitchell restored the Dons’ two-goal lead.
Angelina Nixon fired a rocket of a strike towards goal only for it to be well-matched by Plymouth’s number one. Mitchell rapidly reacted to the save made and tapped the ball home to secure her fourth goal within the most-recent four fixtures played. 3-1

This moment in the final stages of the match reprieved the Stadium MK side, who moments before only sought to defend their winning ways. Back-to-back three points at home has seen MK Dons Women currently place within the top five of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division league table.
