Report: MK Dons Women 4-1 Bridgwater United

MK Dons Women return to winning ways at Stadium MK…

4 April 2023

Charlie Bill’s Women secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Bridgwater United, courtesy of goals from Tricia Gould and Laura Mitchell, as well as a brace from record-breaking forward Mollie Coupar.

Following her brace against United, Coupar secured the most goals scored within a single season whilst her tally reached 25 with four matches remaining. An incredible feat from the striker.

FIRST HALF

Mere minutes had passed before Coupar’s opener, which was assisted by Leyla O’Brien, who fired the ball across the box into the path of the forward for an easy finish past Bridgwater’s ‘Keeper. 1-0

This goal separated the sides for 20 minutes until Tricia Gould doubled that advantage following a second assist from O’Brien. This time, the ball was delivered from the corner spot. 2-0

It seemed pivotal that Gould increased the lead because the travelling team had halved the deficit moments before the half time whistle. 2-1

The teams were signalled for the break moments after United’s goal, although, the Dons still held a one-goal advantage over their FAWNL Southern Premier Division counterpart.

SECOND HALF

An incredible display from Leyla O’Brien was only complimented by a hat-trick of assists from the number 44. Identical to the opener, O’Brien and Coupar linked up once again to further their lead whilst also gifting the number 18 goal number 25 within the current campaign. 3-1

Five minutes after Coupar’s record-breaking goal, MK Dons Women then scored what would be the fifth and final goal of the fixture.

Laura Mitchell was supplied by Hannah Samuels as the forward raced towards goal to secure a 4-1 score-line in front of the Stadium MK crowd.

A convincing victory, which saw three points awarded to Charlie Bill’s Women, who now currently place sixth following the previous weekend of results.
