Charlie Burns was handed his first-team chance during the latter part of the 2015/16 season and the young goalkeeper impressed, notably keeping a clean sheet on his full debut against Sheffield Wednesday.

He joined the club as a youngster in 2011 and signed professional terms in May 2014 after impressing during his time as an extended scholar.

Burns’ professional debut finally came on the final day of the 2013/14 campaign after fellow shot stopper David Martin was forced off with an injury after just 34 minutes.

He then spent time on loan with Cambridge City and Truro City, helping the latter win promotion to the Conference before becoming a regular member of the matchday squad due to injuries last season.

Burns made four appearances in the final two months of the Dons’ inaugural Sky Bet Championship campaign and did enough to have the option in his contract exercised in May 2016 – a move which will keep him at Stadium MK for a further year.
