The Romford-born custodian made 25 appearances for the Dons before joining the then-European champions Liverpool in January 2006. David’s four-year stay at Anfield saw him become a regular with the Reds reserves, who won the Premier Reserve League northern title in 2007/08, though his first team opportunities were limited by the outstanding form of Spaniard Pepe Reina.

He spent the 2008/09 season on loan with eventual League 1 champions Leicester City, making 30 appearances for Nigel Pearson’s men as they clinched promotion to the Championship at the first attempt.

During the 2009/10 season he spent time on loan with Tranmere Rovers and Leeds United, before joining Championship side Derby County for a month as emergency cover for the injured Stephen Bywater.

David, son of West Ham legend Alvin, made 56 appearances for the Club last season, and also kept 16 League clean sheets, an individual record.
