Four local school teams were given the opportunity to play on the hallowed stadiummk turf this summer thanks to professional service firm Deloitte.
The schools, recruited from MK Dons Education Programme, played a round robin tournament before the knockout stages of semi-finals and final.
The Radcliffe School, Denbigh School, Leon School and Sports College and The Vandyke School from Leighton Buzzard all provided squads to compete in the event with Van Dyke running out eventual winners. Michael Durose from Denbigh School commented on why they were delighted to get involved. "The students had a terrific time and will be talking about it for weeks. For them to be able to play on the MK Dons pitch was fantastic experience which I'm sure they will remember for a very long time. Participating in experiences like this will help encourage lifelong participation in sport."

Deloitte's Steve McMullen explains more: "At Deloitte we really pride ourselves on quality, on success and on 'raising the bar', so to be associated with these schools sports teamswho are also inspiring their children to set those standards and surpass them is a great thing for us to see happen. We also want to open up sporting opportunities, like playing at what we hope is a future 2018 World Cup venue, to people who otherwise might never have the chance. Our role as an official supporter of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games further reinforces this."
This view was emphasised by Chris Miller from Vandyke Upper School who said: "The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a fantastic experience which they will remember for the rest of their lives."
This also continues Deloitte's involvement with the Dons following the Unified Football event in February when able-bodied and disabled players teamed up for some 5-a-side games. "This reflects a partnership that supports skills development and commitment to sport at a grassroots level, and that also reflected the passion of our people for sport and high achievement. We want to make a real difference," said Steve
Explaining Deloitte's involvement with London 2012, Paul Schofield, Deloitte Partner, adds: "Deloitte's role in supporting the Games is to help the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG) build a world class organisation to stage a memorable Games and leave a lasting economic, sporting and social legacy."
Deloitte and the Dons will be looking to continue the competition over the next two years and maybe beyond as we enter this golden decade of sport. Deloitte would like to thank MK Dons and stadiummk, MK Council Extended Services and the schools, parents and teachers for their support for this event.
