Disability Counts

Milton Keynes Dons Football in the Community Scheme is hosting Buckinghamshire Ability Counts disability football festival in partnership Berks & Bucks FA and Football First Project.

The Ability Counts disability football festival will give every participating football player the chance to play competition football and help release their maximum potential.

The festival will take place at MK Dons training ground Woughton on the Green on Sunday 20th May 2007. The event is open to all ages and abilities with currently twenty teams participating from around the country. The festival will commence around 11:00am - and finish at 2:30pm and it promises to be fun, safe and enjoyable event for the whole family in Milton Keynes and spectators and potential players are most welcome to come along to watch the event.

The competition format will consist of: U11, U16s League, U16's Championship, Adult League, Adult Championship teams.

FA County Development Manager Liz Verrall said: "This is one of a number of pan-disability festivals being held within the South-East this year. We are keen to provide regular competition for all and hope to progress on to establishing a pan-disability league for clubs within the County. I would like to thank both MK Dons Football in the Community and Football First for what we hope will be a very enjoyable day for all involved."

Football First Coordinator Dennis Woolford added: "Hosting this event is a great opportunity to put MK Dons Disability Football on the map. The partnership between Football First, MK Dons FITC and Berks and Bucks FA aims to raise the profile of disability football and to encourage greater participation at local and regional level. Teams from all areas of the South Eastern Region will be competing on Sunday."

MK Dons Community Officer Darren Oldroyd said: "The festival on the 20 May will increase the participant's aspirations. They will have the confidence to develop their skills and raise their self-esteem. I would like to congratulate everybody involved with the event on their determination to make the festival a success in Milton Keynes."
