On Tuesday 1st May 2007 local Milton Keynes school Stanton representing Milton Keynes Dons FC won the Regional Stage of The Football League Community Cup held at Adams Park, home of Wycombe Wanderers FC.
Stanton School had progressed to the regional stage having won the local stage held in the MK Dons Indoor Academy Dome, organised by Football in the Community earlier this year. Stanton won the local stage of this national competition with the final held at The Ground after our first team fixture vs. Barnet in January 2007.
The school will now go on to represent Milton Keynes Dons FC in the national final vs. Stockport County at the new Wembley Stadium on Saturday 26th May 2007 at The League Two Play off Final later this month.
Marc Collier Schools Co-ordinator at MK Dons Football in the Community Scheme commented "This is a thoroughly deserved reward for Stanton School as they are always very pro active to promote sport for their pupils. Ian Cowper, PE Co-ordinator has worked very hard to create strong links with Football in the Community. I think that Ian, as well as all the pupils involved, deserve as much credit as possible."
This is a fantastic achievement for the school who receive weekly football training sessions from Football in the Community and everybody at the club would like to wish all the players from Stanton School the very best and congratulate them on their success. We hope all involved enjoy the day at Wembley.
