An enigmatic talent popular among Dons supporters since his arrival in 2007, JJ's spell in Milton Keynes has certainly been an eventful one.

When on-song, Johnson is an almighty handful for defenders to deal with, both from wide positions and as a central striker with his pace, explosive unpredictability and shooting prowess. His eye for the spectacular is well-known.

Having moved to England when he was five, Johnson started out at Manchester United before switching to the Blackburn Rovers Academy.

After a handful of appearances and loan spells with Preston and Darlington, he moved to Wolves in 2006. Despite playing the majority of Wolves' games up until Christmas, he spent the back end of the 2006/07 season on loan at Leeds before switching to stadiummk.

After being utilised mainly as a substitute during his first season with the Dons, putting his counter attacking skills on display particularly away from home, JJ was more of a mainstay in the team under Roberto Di Matteo in 2008/09. The Christmas and New Year period was particularly fruitful for the American - capped by his stunning strike at Cheltenham in January that scooped the Goal of the Season award.

After a dip in form and falling out of first team favour, JJ's contract expired at the end of that campaign, but he was re-recruited by Paul Ince upon his return to Milton Keynes. A big season looked in the making when he scored a superb hat-trick in the summer's final friendly against Northampton, but JJ struggled to hold down his first team spot as the campaign progressed. He joined Stockport County on loan in January but was unable to help the Hatters avoid relegation to League 2 before returning to the Dons to start pre-season.

Originally told he was not part of new boss Karl Robinson's plans, JJ went on trial to the United States with MLS sides DC United and Kansas City Wizards. But after returning to Milton Keynes, clear-the-air talks with his manager saw the New Jersey-born forward re-added to the Dons squad and issued with the No.28 shirt.
