Islington-born and Bedford-based, Nathan joined the club in the summer of 2007 after spending much of pre-season on trial with the club.
After starting out as a trainee at Luton Town, Abbey spent time with a variety of clubs including Northampton and Stevenage before settling at Boston United. He played 73 games for the Pilgrims before moving to Bristol City and then Torquay.
After spells with the Gulls and Brentford in 2006/07, he joined the Dons the day before the start of last season. Due to the outstanding form of Frenchman Willy Gueret, Nathan spent most of his first season as a number two but signed a new contract in the summer as he looks to win the number one shirt off his good friend and team-mate.
