Children, young people and adults in MK have been working together on a fantastic new cross-generational programme called 'Grandstand' which is run in partnership with MK Dons Sport & Education Trust and the Extended Services team at Milton Keynes Council.

The aim of the project is also to organize activities that young people can enjoy with older people; including parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles! We have teamed up with pupils and adults from Cedars Combined School to help families get involved with the action at the Newport Pagnell Town Carnival which took place on Saturday 10th July 2010.
The theme chosen by the project was based on the 1966 World Cup winning football team, which paraded alongside a variety of fantastic other floats at the community event; accompanied by Dons mascot Mooie!
The event, attended by an estimated 5,500 people this year helped to raise money towards a variety of local charities.
Workshops have been running free of charge for participants from a wide range of ages from toddlers to grandparents who are going to be involved in the parade. Sessions have involved lots of fun including mask making, designing and making a 1966 World Cup shirt and lots more activities to help prepare for the big event.
It was a great day and thank you to all those who came and supported us to make this event kick off with a bang!
