LEWINGTON SET FOR ONE-MATCH BAN

Posted on: Wed 08 Sep 2010

Dons skipper Dean Lewington will miss Saturday's League 1 trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, after the Club decided not to appeal against his dismissal in the weekend win over Hartlepool.

Lewington was shown a straight red card by referee Craig Pawson after an 84th-minute foul on 'Pools substitute Leon McSweeney - an offence deemed by the Sheffield official to constitute denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity.

The offence carries a mandatory one-match ban, meaning the Dons full-back will be absent from the squad that travels to the Withdean Stadium, but will be available again for the rearranged League 1 visit of Southampton on Wednesday 15th September.
