Dons midfielder Stephen Gleeson was back in international action on Tuesday night as Republic of Ireland Under-21s beat Estonia 5-0 in Dublin.
Winning his 13th cap at Under-21 level, Stephen played the entire 90 minutes at the Tallaght Stadium as the Irish overpowered the Eastern Europeans in their latest UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifier.
Gleeson, now 22 but eligible to play having started the current qualifying campaign as an Under-21, had little difficulty slotting back into his recognised central midfield role, despite operating at right-back for the Dons in pre-season and at Walsall on Saturday.
Hibernian striker Anthony Stokes gave new manager Noel King the perfect start with the opener on 15 minutes, before winning a penalty he then converted on the half-hour.
Wigan Athletic's James McCarthy on 62 minutes before Everton full-back Seamus Coleman and Crystal Palace's Owen Garvan completed the scoring in a fine victory.
Dons manager Karl Robinson said: "Congratulations to Stephen, who continues to do our Club proud on the international stage.
"He's looked in fantastic shape since he came back for pre-season so it doesn't surprise me that he played the whole game after a tough shift at Walsall on Saturday.
"We'll look forward to having him back in training this week as we prepare for Southampton on Saturday."
