Dons midfielder Stephen Gleeson is facing a considerable spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury in Monday's defeat at Bristol Rovers.
Gleeson was injured in the 66th minute of the League 1 clash at the Memorial Stadium after a collision with Rovers' Andy Williams and was taken from the field on a stretcher.
A scan on Tuesday is expected to confirm that the 21-year-old Irishman has damaged medial knee ligaments, ruling him out for the remaining six games of the current campaign.
Dons boss Paul Ince said after the game: "It looks like Stevie's medial ligaments so it looks like he'll be out for the rest of the season - we're talking three months.
"He'll go to hospital in Milton Keynes for an assessment, but from what the physio can gather it looks like a few months."
Gleeson, who joined the Dons from Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, has been a first team regular for Paul Ince's side this season having made 36 appearances since his arrival at stadiummk.
His absence leaves Ince with selection issues in the midfield area, with Peter Leven already nursing an ankle knock.
