Defender James Tunnicliffe will remain with MK Dons until mid-April after extending his loan from Brighton for a further month.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been in impressive form since arriving at stadiummk in February, making six appearances at the heart of the defence as Paul Ince's men continue their pursuit of a League 1 play-off place.

The 6ft 5in defender scored his first goal for the Dons in Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Swindon, a result that has taken Ince's side to within five points of the top six.

And having reached an agreement with Seagulls boss Gus Poyet to retain the services of the former Stockport man, Ince will have Tunnicliffe available until Sunday 11th April.

Ince said: "It's good news for us; we thought Tunny's goal on Tuesday night was going to be a parting gift, but we're delighted to have him for another month.

"We can't afford to rush Sean O'Hanlon and Matty Doumbe back from injury and Tunny has been different class for us since he came in, so it made sense to keep him if we could.

"He's only a young, but he's a great lad and he's happy to stay here so it's a good outcome for everyone."

Tunnicliffe's availability will see him go straight back into the squad for Saturday's League 1 trip to Brentford.
