Dons manager Paul Ince picked out Aaron Wilbraham for special praise following the weekend win at Stockport - paying tribute to the striker's consistently committed performances.

Wilbraham continued to haunt former club County on Saturday with a brilliant goal at Edgeley Park - his fifth in five games at Stockport since leaving the club six years ago - and was the focal point for several attacks as Ince's side closed in on the play-offs.

After scoring a career-best 17 goals last term, 30-year-old Alby has been in slightly less prolific form this season - Saturday's strike was his fifth of the campaign - but his overall contribution to the team continues to be immeasurable.

Typically, his team-mates have felt the benefit - Jermaine Easter hitting his 17th goal of the season at the weekend and Sam Baldock already into double figures.

And Ince says Wilbraham's role as a foil for fellow forwards will never be taken for granted.

He said: "Alby getting his goal was the icing on the cake for me because he doesn't always get the appreciation he should do from certain quarters of the fans.

"But as a squad and a staff we appreciate him. He goes through the mill for us every week and he loves everything about this club. We respect him, we appreciate what he does and when I see him score it gives me an extra feeling of satisfaction.

"He deserved his goal for all the foraging he does up front. Alby's a proper Milton Keynes Dons Player, he loves everything about the Club and he gives his all week in and week out.

"We should all appreciate what Alby does for this team and this Club. He's a special player and a special person and I always love seeing him score because he gives so much to the team and the lads appreciate it.

"I was sitting right behind it and to see it go in was fantastic."
