Milton Keynes Dons FC is delighted to announce that club captain Dean Lewington has agreed a new long-term contract at stadiummk.

The 25-year-old full-back has put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal, committing his future to the Dons until June 2013.

The Club's longest-serving player with over 300 appearances to his name and a huge favourite among Dons supporters, everyone at MK Dons is delighted that Dean will continue to be part of the Club's journey in the coming years.

Dean told mkdons.com: "Being part of this Club's long-term plans is all I've ever been interested in so I'm delighted it's been finalised.

"This is the Club I've been with since I was a boy, it's my Club and I love it so I couldn't be happier about helping it move forward.

"The Gaffer is laying real long-term foundations here and the Club has huge ambitions - it's something any footballer would want to be part of."

Appointed club captain following Keith Andrews departure to Blackburn in 2008, Lewington has remained one of the Dons' most consistent performers in recent seasons, enhancing his reputation as one of the best left-sided full-backs outside the Premier League.

The Kingston-born defender, voted into the PFA Team of the Year in both 2008 (League 2) and 2009 (League 1) by his fellow professionals, joins striker Sam Baldock in committing his long-term future to the Dons in the last week.

Dons manager Paul Ince said: "Players of Dean Lewington's quality are absolutely integral in getting to where we want to be, so I'm over the moon that he's going to be part of what we're trying to achieve.

"He was fantastic during my first spell with the Club, clearly capable of playing at a higher level, so I was actually surprised to still find him here when I came back!

"But Lewie loves MK Dons, he loves the fans, he can see the giant strides we're taking to move forward and he wants to be part of that."
