Dons striker Sam Baldock described his first international experience as a night he'll never forget, despite England being overpowered by Ghana at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

Brian Eastick's team were beaten 4-0 by the impressive African side in their second group game in Ismailia, leaving them needing to win their final Group D fixture with Uzbekistan on Friday to have any hope of progressing.

Having once again started on the substitute's bench, Dons hitman Sam was introduced on the hour mark in place of Febian Brandy to add some spark to the Three Lions' front line.

But England were unable to prevent the Ghanaians running away with the game - goals in each half from Dominic Adiyiah plus second-half strikes from Andrew Ayew and Ransford Osei completing a comprehensive win.

Sam told mkdons.com: "It was a tough game, Ghana were the better team on the night and deserved to win, but perhaps not by four goals.

"The result was disappointing, but it was a night I'll never forget. I've trained hard with the squad for the last two weeks so to come on and win my first cap was a great feeling.

"We had a chance or two early in the game, but once we were chasing it after half-time we were always susceptible to being caught at the other end.

"We've got to put it behind us now though. We've got another game on Friday that we have to win to stand any chance of qualifying so we'll be putting everything into it."

England's preparations were hit by illness sweeping through the camp, but Eastick refused to make excuses.

He told thefa.com: "We did have a few problems leading up to the game, which you can't predict, with players waking up this morning being quite ill with severe sickness and diarrhoea but that's not an excuse.

"We were outplayed in every department: physically, technically and tactically - and I have absolutely no complaints about being beaten by a better side.

"I think Ghana certainly have the potential to go to the Final."
