GLEESON NAMED IN EIRE U-21 SQUAD

Dons midfielder Stephen Gleeson has been named in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for next month's UEFA 2011 European Championship Qualifier in Estonia.

Stephen will join up with the 18-man travelling party on Monday 7th September ahead of the game in Tallinn on Wednesday 9th. He'll then return to Milton Keynes later that week ahead of the Dons' home game with Norwich City on Monday 14th.

Having completed a permanent move to the Dons from Wolves in the summer, Gleeson has made an impressive start to the League 1 campaign, starting three of the Dons' four league games this term and playing a pivotal role in an unbeaten start for Paul Ince's men.

The 21-year-old Dubliner will be among the most experienced internationals in an impressive Irish squad, the Dons playmaker having made 10 Under-21 appearances as well as earning two full caps.

And Under-21 manager Don Givens the FAI's website he expects great things from a talented young group.

He told fai.ie: "A lot of the players are experienced at this level having been regulars with the Under-21s for some time now. We also have a few new faces in the squad, so I am looking forward to getting a close look at those players.

"This is a strong squad, one that is certainly capable of making an impact in the European Championship qualifiers."
