LEWINGTON AND DOUMBE LATEST

Posted on: Fri 21 Aug 2009

MK Dons captain Dean Lewington and defender Mathias Doumbe have both been taken to hospital following a collision during Saturday's goalless draw at Swindon Town.

Dean has been diagnosed with a mild concussion and received 12 stitches in a head wound, while Mathias suffered a laceration to the head that required 15 stitches.

The pair clashed in the 41st minute of Saturday's League 1 fixture at the County Ground and were both substituted following extensive treatment from on-site medical staff.

The game was delayed for 15 minutes while both players were tended to, with Dean placed on a spinal board as a precautionary measure. Spinal damage has since been ruled out.

The Club would like to place on record its thanks to the associated medical staff at Swindon Town Football Club, whose swift response to the incident and assistance to our own medical team quickly ensured the safety of both players.

mkdons.com will bring you further news on the condition of both players as soon as it is available.
