Dons boss Paul Ince has today confirmed the appointment of Karl Robinson as his new assistant manager.

Paul and Karl took charge of their first training session with the squad on Tuesday morning, following the players' return from their pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Former Wolves and Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has also been brought into the pre-season setup with a view to becoming a permanent member of Ince's backroom staff.

Karl, who was among Ince's coaching team during his first spell with the Dons and who recently completed his UEFA Pro Licence, returns to stadiummk after working for a year as first team coach with Blackburn Rovers.

Alex was most recently involved with Scottish side Dundee, where he was appointed player/manager in May 2006 before hanging up his boots to concentrate on coaching a year ago. He left Dens Park last October.

Ince said: "Karl is a fantastic addition to the setup, he's been here before so we know him well and the lads know what kind of coach he is.

"He's taking on a bigger role than the last time we were here, but he's an extremely talented coach, the lads respond well to him and he's got all the necessary tools for the job.

"We know Karl well from the last time we were here and we've brought Alex in to do a bit of coaching with the lads, see how they respond to him and vice versa.

"It's early doors yet, but if I get the right feedback we'll also look to employ Alex Rae."

An exclusive interview with both Karl Robinson and Alex Rae is coming soon to Dons World.
